Mark Sheppard, B.Sc., D.V.M. (retired), received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Canada.  His professional career has included roles as: the Lead Veterinarian for the Pacific Region of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO); the Aquatic Animal Health Veterinarian of British Columbia; the veterinary service manager of an international salmon production company and a multi-national aquaculture feed company.  He has offered fish health management services internationally as a private consultant for the past 20 years.

Dr. Sheppard's unique interest and more than 32 years of field experience as a veterinary practitioner in finfish aquaculture has nurtured the development of his expertise of both cold-water salmonids and warm-water aquaculture fishes.  He has provided fish health management, pathology and pharmaceutical expertise to fish culturists of: Canada, United States, Ireland, Chile, Mexico, Japan, Philippines, South China, New Zealand, Australia and Sri Lanka.

His company, Sakana V Services, offered the following services to clients:
