Mark Sheppard, B.Sc., D.V.M., received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Canada.  His professional career has included roles as: the Lead Veterinarian for the Pacific Region of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO); the Aquatic Animal Health Veterinarian of British Columbia; the veterinary service manager of an international salmon production company and a multi-national aquaculture feed company.  He now offers fish health management services internationally as a private veterinary consultant.

Dr. Sheppard's unique interest and more than 28 years of field experience as an active veterinary practitioner in finfish aquaculture has nurtured the development of his expertise of both cold-water salmonids and warm-water aquaculture fishes.  He has provided veterinary fish health management, pathology and pharmaceutical expertise to fish culturists of: Canada, United States, Ireland, Chile, Mexico, Japan, Philippines, South China, New Zealand, Australia and Sri Lanka.

His company, Sakana Veterinary Services, offers the following services to clients:
